This film focuses on honouring the memory of the students who survived as well as those that died at the school whose bodies where never returned to their families.

The film tells a collective story from many voices deep inside the Peruvian Amazon, around the paradisiac Caimito Lake, within a region in dispute considered "the largest and longest" conflict in the Amazon. The film tells the story of three Amazonian Indigenous nations in the Ucayali Basin fighting for their survival, resisting multiple threats to their territories, governance systems and way of life, and protecting the last rainforests.

Stephanie Joline is an Indigenous filmmaker based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Mi’kma’ki/Nova Scotia. Her Indigenous roots come from her mother, who is Inuit from Labrador; her father is French Acadian from the South shore of Nova Scotia.
In 2020, she was awarded the Irving Avrich Award from TIFF, recognizing rising Canadian talent. The following year, she was long-listed for the DGC Discovery Award, and in 2022, she received Best Nova Scotia Director from Women in Film and TV Atlantic and won her first Canadian Screen Award for directing in the factual television category.
Set in the future following the third cultural collapse. An aspiring Haudenosaunee artist receives an invitation to an exclusive dinner. Not knowing what to expect, the evening delves into a game with extremely dire consequences. An Indigenous short film centred around the fetishization of Indigenous cultures and current threads in "public" art spaces.
Director Statement
My name is Yuma Hester. I am half Anishinaabe (Neyaashiinigmiing), and half Ililowuk (Moose
Factory).
I am currently a founding member, and Creative Director with Bawaadan Collective. Along with a dynamic team of Indigenous artists and accomplices we are dedicated to evolving our collective methods for modern artistic storytelling and film production.
Son of Samoa takes you through the journey of Tatau. Identity is explored in a way physically, spiritually and mentally that most have not endured.
With supporting voices, Tamoko/Tufuga artist Inia Taylor, speaks on the importance of belonging and how to navigate that through cultural traditions. Bonni Tamati, a Pacific art advocate also expresses her love for self-discovery and how love within oneself can help spread love around you.
This is a story of hope, a story shared for all, a story of self-love.
Director Biography - Laman Time
Laman Time is an aspiring Documentary Film Maker with a passion for stories from the outspoken.
With a Diploma in design and animation, Laman is committed to further developing his skills in contribution to the film industry. Currently a freelance creative, Laman is looking to gain experience in any way he can.

This documentary is a coming of age story.
Through the journey of Tatau, a message of self love is explored from the struggle
of self identity to the embracing of cultural heritage. This is a story on learning
how to love parts of yourself that no else ever has. This is the Sun of Samoa
I want people to see a connection between self love and cultural identity.
I want people to understand this journey is not a standard but an avenue for people to learn how to bring happiness in to their world. I want people to see themselves in these stories.

Penny J Gullion is a Nehiyâw-Iskwew raised in Wabasca (Bigstone Cree Nation) in Treaty 8 Territory, Alberta. A dancer since adolescence, she always held a passion for the arts. She moved to Edmonton to attend high school at Victoria School of the Arts and her passion for storytelling flourished. Penny is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production at the University of British Colombia.
